This week I started Stephen Silver's character design course on schoolism. It's a great series and a wonderful course. This is my homework for the first assignment where we were asked to design a character based on a detailed description.
Finished up the first of the bird series this morning! Unfortunately there aren't any naturally occurring blue or orange cockatiels in the world, but I thought the colors worked well.
Here are a few bird sketches I put down yesterday. I'm trying to feel out how cartoony I want these guys to be. My favorite is the toucan and the cockatiel. I think the cockatiel will be the first bird I paint.
I'll go ahead and admit up front that I've never had table space at an art show before this past weekend. But now that I've been on the other side of the booth, I'm totally hooked! Here are a couple of pieces I made exclusively for the event. I also had a handful of other prints from my gallery. Enjoy!
